Social Studies Benchmarks Assessments
Welcome

Social Studies Benchmark Performance Assessments are designed to assess student mastery as a result of TEKS-based instruction and to serve as an indicator for student success on TAKS. Instructional rubrics that analyze a student's conceptual knowledge, procedural knowledge, and communication skills are included.

The assessments are a free resource to educators, parents, and students. Over 120 tasks per grade level or course are disseminated either in the public or in a separate site for administrators.

PUBLIC

Educators, parents, and students

The public site contains assessment items sorted selected Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills statements for grades 6-8 and the three high school courses of World History Studies, World Geography Studies, and United History Studies. Each item is accompanied by samples of student work.

ADMINISTRATOR

District/Charter Personnel

The administrator's site is closed to the public and contains a different set of assessment items sorted by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills statements for grades 6-8 and the three high school courses of World History Studies, World Geography Studies and United History Studies. The purpose of the administrator's site is to provide districts with a database of items that each district can use to develop customized benchmark assessments.
