ARESC-Problem Situations: Addition and Subtraction and the Nature of Equals
This course will investigate the different types addition and subtraction situations including children's understanding of the equal sign. The topics include structure of problem types, how problems are alike and different, how children's thinking differs from adults, children's strategies and level of development, connections to operations and algebraic thinking and instructional implications.
