CRESC - Mental Health Symposium

This two day conference will be held at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in Jonesboro, AR and will offer CRESC educators the opportunity to learn the best practices related to mental health for themselves and for their students. Sessions include: Empathy in Action; Trauma-Sensitive Classroom; Trust, Inside & Out; Understanding & Addressing Children and Adolescent Grief Issues; Youth Mental Health First Aid; Your Mental Health; Self-care Mindfulness; Root Issues of Student Behavior; ACEs; Resiliency; De-escalation

Our goal is to empower counselors and their colleagues with the essential tools, strategies, and insights necessary to construct a resilient and effective mental health support system within their schools--a unified force we can aptly term our 'Mental Health Army.' This session promises an enriching exploration of practical approaches to bolster the well-being of our students, our parents, and our faculty. As a community we innovate together while we consider the ever-evolving landscape of education.

Trauma-Sensitive environments create safe havens for students and safe working environments for educators. Research shows almost all educators encounter trauma-affected students, whether they know it or not. This session focuses on student emotions, safety & security and adverse childhood experiences, along with strategies to help students de-escalate and regulate emotions and behavior. A positive school culture builds resilience for all students and improves learning outcomes.
