Accommodations and Modifications: Effective Implementation in the Classroom



This session will examine the significan differences between accomodations and modifications. It will look at the process of selecting appropriate acommodations to assist individual learning styles and provide success to all students with special needs. Various adaptations with illustrations of each type will be offered. Participants will explore how the may adapt their curriculum to accommodate specific learners. In addition, Universal Design for Learning and the Backward Design Process will be investigated. participants will explore the accessibility to free web-based tools for assistance in providing accommodatons to student. The Common Core Stae Standards will be referenced throughout this session as they apply to the information presented.

Important Session Information:


For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
