Parental Involvement with Common Core and Dyslexia Awareness

This is a cooperative wide event in which all SCSC personnel are invited to take part in three hours of parental involvement and three hours of dyslexia awareness. Lee Smith, Superintendent of Horatio Schools, will share his rebuttal to the Karen Lameroux testimony before the Arkansas State Board of Education opposing Common Core in Arkansas. Lee will help to debunk the myths of Common Core in Arkansas. In addition cooperative staff Deborah Curry and Anna Warriner will present the dyslexia awareness training. They will clear up many misconceptions of dyslexia and ways to screen. Come to learn more about what dyslexia is and how school personnel can work together with parents and other stakeholders to help students in our schools.

Important Session Information:

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
