NWAESC---Pre-AP Strategies in Science—Creating a Learner-Centered Classroom
Expand your science teaching skills, techniques and knowledge in this workshop. Teachers learn how to create an interactive classroom that focuses on inquiry-based learning, encourages higher levels of thinking, and orchestrates discourse through speaking, writing, and graphic representation. They also learn strategies for: • inductive thinking • discrepant events • brainstorming • group work • graphic organizers The workshop focuses on ways to design and use investigations, write dynamic problems, and enhance current classroom activities. Participants learn how to develop learning skills for all students, build assessments that monitor progress, and foster scientific thinking without interrupting instruction.
