Business Competition Simulation – BOSS (Business Opportunities for Student Success)

Participants will learn about a business simulation to use within their classrooms. This foundation management simulation gives a student or group of students an opportunity to compete with others worldwide for the successful operation of a business. A team will run a $40 million company for eight years or eight rounds. Participants will compete in the production of select products or services. All companies at the beginning will be unfocussed and perform poorly. The company will be operating in two market segments, within a growing industry. The simulation will create a corporate culture of strategic planning and decision making that continually evaluates the marketing mix, with SWOT analysis. Competitors receive a financial report for study and analysis before making the next round of decisions. Six strategic decisions are required for each round of competition. Those decisions are Production, Research and Development, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and Total Quality Management initiatives.

Important Session Information:

The workshop fee of $190 includes a fee of $150 which will allow "one" team of students per school to participate in the Spring 2014 BOSS competition. If your school chooses not to participate in the spring competition, the workshop fee for this workshop will only be $40. (This $40 fee covers one teacher & 2 students.) If a teacher wants to bring more students, the school will be charged an extra $10 for each student added. Lunch will be provided for each.
