SCSC - Novice Teacher Mentoring Program MENTOR TRAINING

A teacher who wishes to be an active mentor for the 2015-2016 school year must be recommended by his or her administrator to attend the one-day Novice Teacher Mentor Training. All attendees must be TESS trained “prior” to attending the mentor training. The Recommendation Form can be scanned and emailed to the person in charge of the training or can be brought to the training by the mentor. Mentors must stay the entire time of the training and must be approved as an Novice Teacher Mentor by the Trainer. A participant will not be approved as a mentor without a completed Novice Teacher Mentor Recommendation Form. Trainings will be held at the local Co-ops. Mentors who were approved as Mentors in 2014-2015 do not attend the training. A Mentor Update Video will be available on the Teacher Induction/Mentoring webpage by July 1 to provide details regarding changes to the Novice Teacher Mentoring Program.

Important Session Information:

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
