Dr. Geraldine Mallette from the Arkansas Department of Education, Federal Programs Unit, will be presenting this session that will provide an overview of the federal requirements for Parent and Family Engagement, formerly Parental Involvement. She will cover the mandates from the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, that will be continued, and changes that will take effect under the new law, Every Student Succeed Act, (ESSA) that was passed in December of 2015. The information will be beneficial to superintendents, principals, parent coordinators, parent facilitators, parents, and anyone desiring to learn more about the Parent and Family Engagement federal compliance mandates for districts and schools receiving Title I funding.
