ARESC-Integrating Music into Curriculum

This workshop is designed to explore how music can be integrated into the core subject areas of literacy, math, social studies, and science to increase student engagement and promote student achievement. Arkansas A+ Fellows will demonstrate proven strategies for using music to enhance curriculum and guide participants in exploring basic music techniques such as rhythm, melody, and harmony. By creating their own musical instruments, exploring with sound, and participating in activities that tie music into all the core subject areas, teachers will walk away with tools that can be used to reach a wide range of learners. During the workshop, participants are challenged to discuss and share ideas about how the arts integration strategies presented can be modified for use in their classrooms. Participants will leave the workshop with a variety of ideas that they can implement immediately and written resources that they can access via Google Drive. This workshop includes ideas and resources for K-6 grade levels. Teachers will: - Walk away with specific ideas about how they can incorporate arts integration techniques into their classrooms immediately. -Grow their comfort in introducing music into their classrooms. -Learn enriched assessment strategies that can be used to evaluate student learning in non-traditional ways.
