DSC Need a Lab in Your Back Pocket?

Get ready for a LAB Day! Learn how to use hand ons investigations that allow students to analyze data and make sense of phenomena. Be introduced to the G-Force Unit and other PocketLab applications. Teachers will be shown multiple ways to do investigations- PocketLab Notebook with or without sensors and with common classroom materials. Investigations will be linked to AR Standards with an emphasis on Forces and Interactions, Gravity and Energy. Extensions will be introduced to Temperature and Electromagnetism Investigations with the Voyager Probe. These investigations can lead students to better understand how forces play a role in motion as far away as our Solar System and as close by as within our Earth’s plates shifting and pushing. WestEd Studies and Open SciEd have partnered with PocketLab using their electronic Notebook. One PocketLab Sensor will be given away and one raffled off on the day of the meeting with the commitment of meeting with PocketLab to learn how to apply its many functions to instructional outcomes. Grant and funding sources will be given in the afternoon. Bring your own sack lunch.
