SWAEC- The Great Arkansas Total Solar Eclipse of 2024



This collaborative session with SWAEC and DESC is designed to help educators and the general public understand the phenomenon of a total solar eclipse and to provide information specific to viewing the total solar eclipse from Arkansas on April 8, 2024. In the morning, participants will receive an overview of eclipse safety and resources for obtaining safe viewing equipment for schools and communities. After lunch, educators will explore constructing safe solar viewers, education resources, and how the eclipse relates to the Arkansas State K-12 Science Standards. This collaboration between DESC and SWAEC will be at Dawson Education Service Cooperative, 711 Clinton Street, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 Bring an empty cereal box and/or oatmeal box if you have one!
