NWAESC(2095)-Engaging Students in Science Investigations in Grades 6-8

Join us for two days of learning that's not just about teaching science; it's an opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills needed to foster a culture of openness, collaboration, and inquiry.Led by state science specialist Saundra Lamberson, 6th - 8th grade science teachers will engage in phenomena driven science investigations, a storyline learning model, and assessment task development and adaptation. The professional learning will focus on the teaching and learning of the AR K-12 Science Standards for grades 6-8, using Open SciEd as a model for curriculum and instructional strategies. The first day will be an introductory session that includes an overview of the Open SciEd curriculum, while day two will provide time for teachers to plan their first unit of instruction. Note: teachers do not have to use Open SciEd to attend this training.
