The first day we will meet at SugarLoaf Mountain
via pontoon boat from Fairfield Bay Marina to see rocks with sedimentary
features typical of the southern Ozark Plateaus. We will also learn about the
rock types in the Boston Mountains of the Ozark Plateaus and how they formed
millions of years ago. The second day will be lab instruction. We will identify
sedimentary rock types on the Ozark Plateau Province, analyze changes in the
earth’s surface through weathering and erosion, infer the nature of ancient
environments, and analyze how rock sequences may be disturbed by erosion or
deposition.
