GREC - Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics

In Arkansas, "ambitious" mathematics teaching fosters student sense-making, thinking, and reasoning to cultivate a strong mathematical community. Achieving this requires skill, knowledge, and planning to empower students in their learning journey. Inspired by the challenges faced by teachers in implementing rich mathematics tasks, Peter Liljedahl offers practical insights from 15 years of research in his book "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, Grades K–12." This resource outlines 14 optimal practices for fostering deep mathematics learning. By integrating Liljedahl's strategies, participants can enhance their teaching and promote student engagement in math classrooms. Participants will receive a copy of "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, Grades K–12" for further reference.
