AFESC-Campus Canines: How Assistance Dogs Pawsitively Impact School Culture and Student Success

Are you the handler or helper for a working dog in your school? Are you planning to take on this role? Join Bethany and Archie, Arch Ford’s working dogs in schools duo, for an insightful discussion on leveraging the incredible potential of working dogs with students in your school. If you already have a dog, bring them along! This will be a powerful time for collaboration and networking with fellow dog handlers to gather ideas and strategies for tier one, tier two, and tier three behavior support. We'll explore strategies and best practices for optimizing the presence of these highly trained animals to enhance safety, security, and well-being across the campus. If you are working toward becoming a handler, you can attend and gain insight from those living it! There will be a short time of sharing from Bethany and Archie and include lots of sharing from participants who have learned through the process of becoming a handler. Bring your ideas with you and be ready for a Q&A time!

This session will address instructional strategies most appropriate for the following levels of instruction:

Tier 1, 2, 3
