Barton- Required PD
De-Escalation- Staying Cool When the Temperature Rises
Required PD August 5th-August 12th
Important Session Information:
Because we are feeling beings, we experience a wide range of emotions within the school environment. Our students also will experience highs and lows and intense emotions while at school. How do we respond when the emotional thermometer rises? In this training we will look at some of the science behind our own responses to intense, offensive, or scary scenarios. We will also practice the art of skillful de-escalation strategies. As we compare and contrast what is likely to help and what is likely to hinder our efforts toward successful outcomes, we will devise a personal plan to stay cool when the temperature rises. Active participation and practice will help attendees to become more confident when working with both students and adults.
