SWAEC- Building Thinking Math Classrooms

This professional development training will focus on helping K-12 teachers create classrooms that foster deeper mathematical thinking among their students. Peter Lilledahl's book, Building Thinking Classrooms, offers strategies for engaging students in meaningful math activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Not only will participants learn strategies based on his research to engage students in thinking for longer periods of time, but also ways to set up conditions in the classroom to promote mathematical thinking. Who is doing more of the thinking? You or your students?

For SWAEC Professional Development Consortium member districts, the fee for this session has been waived. Members and non-members will be assessed a “no show” fee if you register and do not attend. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (address tied to escWorks) and no one will be charged a fee.
