GREC - How to have a 'So What, Now What?' Approach to the Education Profession (3 hours)

Standardized test scores are below achieving. Now, what instructional practices are we implementing to enhance student learning? Our students do not show respect. Now, what structures am I putting into place to teach, demonstrate, and encourage respect? Our students are not reading on grade level. Now, what systems do we have in place to provide interventions for them?

Having a ‘So What, Now What?’ approach to the education profession requires that we are action-oriented with a growth mindset and deep resilience. But, it also means that our professional practices more likely lead to enhanced outcomes for ourselves, our students, and our colleague. This workshop will provide a peak into successful methods used by high impact educators around the nation, including Linda Cliatt-Wayman (who coined ‘So What, Now What?’). Additionally, the session will allow participants to reflect on their current approach, as well as how to incorporate more solution-oriented approaches to even the most minute tasks of the school day.

While the target audience is instructional and building leaders, classroom teachers are also welcome!
