Fostering Resilient Learners: Strategies for Creating a Trauma-Sensitive Classroom

- Restricted Audience:  Norwood's Sharpsburg Elementary and Primary Staff Only

Participants will:

  • Understand what trauma is and how it hinders the learning motivation and success of our students.
  • Learn strategies to build strong relationships and create safe spaces to enable our students to learn at high levels.
  • Develop a strength-based approach that leads us to rethink how we view destructive student behaviors and to understanding what students need to break negative cycles.
    • Head off frustration and burnout with essential self-care techniques that will help us and our students flourish.

Important Session Information:

Create a building-wide action plan that encourages us to connect our new learning on trauma-sensitive learning environments to behavior management systems and supports that are, or will be, in place in our classrooms or spaces.

1 (one) semester credit from Ashland is available for an additional fee.
