There are many underrepresented gifted students -- those who are limited English proficient, disabled, or from minority or low-income backgrounds -- have not been identified for advanced learner services or are in schools where there is limited access to advanced classes or gifted education services, and where classroom teachers have not been trained to meet their needs. In practice, most gifted and talented students spend the majority of their time in the regular classroom.
Join us in a summer discussion of underrepresented populations in gifted education and what we can do as educators to impact these students.
Purchase of the book And Still We Rise by Miles Corwin prior to the start of the course is the responsibility of the student.
*This online book study meets the gifted highly qualified professional development (HQPD) requirement for gifted students receiving services in the general education classroom.
