Incorporating the Practice of Mindfulness into School Based OT/PT Therapy

- Co-sponsored by Hamilton County ESC and Warren County ESC.




1. The participant will be able to assess and identify at least three challenges to the practice of mindfulness.

2. The participant will be able to describe at least two strategies to utilize classroom observation to assess mindfulness challenges.

3. The participant will be able to independently list three mindfulness treatment strategies to help students with self-regulation and educationally relevant skills.

4. The participant will be able to correctly describe Mindfulness practices and it's practical application to daily school functioning.


Important Session Information:


Hamilton County ESC and Warren County ESC are working collaboratively to host this course.

Designed for OT's and PT's, you will learn practical strategies and “best practices” from Dr. Suzanne Klatt, Ph.D., LSW-S to develop and understand how Mindfulness practices can be incorporated into school-based practice.

This full day session will be held at the Warren County Educational Service Center, 1879 Deerfield Rd., Lebanon, OH.

$100 for non HCESC/Warren County ESC employees. Registration is through Eventbrite.

 

Dr. Suzanne Klatt, Ph.D., LSW-S serves at the Director and Senior Faculty member of Mindfulness & Contemplative Inquiry Center at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Dr. Klatt has over 20 years of experience as a facilitator of Dialectical Cognitive Behavior Therapy and over 5 years certified instructor and teaching of Mindfulness in Schools. She holds advanced levels of training in Mindfulness-Based Emotional Resilience within the practice of trauma informed yoga, Yoga Nidra Level II and Yoga Nidra Co-Meditation. Dr. Klatt has produced many professional papers and conducted research in the area of Mindfulness as it relates to the workplace and post-traumatic stress. Her work has been published in the Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education and the Journal of Traumatic Stress Disorders and Treatment. She has developed many specialized trainings in the areas of mindfulness with female administrators, within higher education both students and faculty as well as with Alternative School Youth members and Wise Elders. She was awarded Outstanding Service Learning Faculty member at the Miami University Hamilton campus in 2015.
