PRACTICAL TREATMENT STRATEGIES FOR PRESCHOOL & SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN WHO STUTTER

Participants will:
Select and utilize effective treatment approaches for increasing fluency, reducing stuttering, and improving communication attitudes in preschool and school-age children.
Help children express their concerns about their speaking ability in a supportive atmosphere that will help them come to terms with their feelings and attitudes about stuttering.
Work with parents of children who stutter in a manner that will help parents contribute to their children's success in treatment and in other conversational settings.
Important Session Information:
Overview and simulations of processing disorders that often go unrecognized by professionals (i.e. visual, auditory, sensory-integration, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, etc.) Descriptions and interventions to reduce the impact on learning, social interaction and behavior will be examined. Resources, including 180 daily activities for general classroom use, will be provided.
