Strategies for Newcomer English Learners and SLIFE Students

Audience includes classroom teachers who either have or anticipate having non-English speaking (Newcomer) English Learners and/or SLIFE (Students with Limited or Interrupted Former Education) in their classroom

Gain knowledge of strategies that support non-English student learning in the content area.
Leave with a scaffolding plan to support non-English students in their classroom.
Gain knowledge on Tier II and Tier III interventions that are appropriate for SLIFE students.
Important Session Information:
This workshop will provide basic strategies to help classroom teachers with Comprehensible Input for their non-English (Newcomer) English Learners as well as how to support Comprehensible Output in return. Or, in other words: Help! my student doesn't speak English and I need some simple, low-prep yet effective strategies that help with relaying content as well as assessing content! We've got you covered.
