Trauma Responsive Educational Practices: A Whole School Effort to Meet the Needs of Students and Staff

- Audience:  School Psychologists, School Counselors, Related Service Providers, Teachers, Administrators




  • Understand how to meet the developmental and educational needs of traumatized students.
  • Learn how to navigate developmental relationships with students who have experienced trauma and who are difficult relationship partners.
  • Understand the negative effects of secondary trauma on educators and how to avoid burnout.
  • Learn how to utilize a model of collective care to address the effects of secondary trauma.

Important Session Information:


Dr. Micere Keels leads the Trauma Responsive Educational Practices Project and comes with a wealth of information on how to address trauma within the school community. Dr. Keels will focus on how we can address secondary trauma and its effects. Her focus will be on a model of Collective Care. Her presentation is relevant to the issues we are all facing with the pandemic and will give ideas on what you can do to support yourself and your school communities during these unpredictable times. Her approach is applicable and practical.
