Storytelling
During this 4-hour workshop Margie Rietsma will cover the basics of storytelling, including: 1. selecting a story; 2. tailoring the story to fit the teller and the intended listeners; 3. how to shape the elements of the story such as character, setting, theme, etc. for performance; 4. different types of folktales and how to match these types of tales with particular ages and groups of listeners; and 5. how and when to include props, puppets, and music.
Participants will take part in a variety of storytelling exercises to familiarize themselves with various skills and aspects of storytelling.
