Transfer of Rights and Guardianship


Transition is for parents and teachers that work with students with disabilities at the secondary education level (High School). Every month a different presentation is conducted:
Important Session Information:

The discussion of guardianship, for students with disabilities, occurs 1 year prior to turning age of majority. In South Dakota, the discussion must occur by age 17 years old. This session will discuss what it means for the student to become their own guardian, the parent's role, and if seeking guardianship what are the options. Tim Neyhart from Advocacy Services will be the presenter. All events will occur at 3:30 to 5:00 pm Central Standard Time.
