Building a Human Capital Management System: A Conversation with Texas School Districts about Evaluation Systems and Student Growth Measures

The Texas Center for Educator Effectiveness (TxCEE)and the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) are hosting a one-day symposium on Human Capital Management Systems on Monday, April 28, 2014, from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm in Austin, Texas at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel. Several Texas school districts have received Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) grants from the U.S. Department of Education over the past few years to develop a Human Capital Management System which includes the implementation of a cohesive initiative that involves a rigorous educator evaluation system that is based in significant part on student growth measures in every classroom as well as professional development system tied to evaluation. As TIF grantees, numerous Texas districts have embarked on similar journeys that are relevant to a lot of Texas school districts who are now facing the selection of a new educator evaluation system as well as student growth measure model. Come hear from other school districts in Texas discuss their district's approach to this work as well as the successes, challenges, and lessons learned. Districts that are confirmed as lead presenters are Austin ISD, Houston ISD, and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD. Others will be added in the coming weeks.
