Leading for Learning: An Initiative Supporting Educational Leadership (four complete seminars: 10/6/09; 12/2/09; 2/3/10; 4/13/10)

Target Audience: Principals. A review of the literature identifies the critical role of effective leadership in organizational improvement. This is very clearly reinforced in the literature regarding learning improvement in schools. Dufour, Dufour and Eaker state in their recent book, Revisiting Professional Learning Communities at Work: New Insights for Improving School, that: "principals benefit from embracing a few key ideas to help them create a meaningful and manageable conceptual framework for addressing the complexities of the position."In these four seminars we will identify and explore selected key ideas critical to success within the "complexities of the position." Session 1: October 6 - "Individual and Organizational Transformation during Change." Objectives: Understand key dynamics of change and transition; Identify individual "immunity to change"; Identify leadership improvement objective for the year and develop plan for implementation; Share mode
