Returning to the classroom following brain injury requires a collaborative team approach to ensure a
successful transition. Participants in this training will learn types of brain injury and potential
educational impacts on student function. Tools and strategies to support students' physical symptoms
and academic needs will be provided. A model to foster collaboration among educational team
members will be shared. Learning Objectives-Review basics of brain injury using information
from the Brain Injury Association of America-Review etiology, prevalence, and Arkansas
statics using information from the CDC, DESE, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and TBI State
Partnership Program with the Arkansas Dept. of Health and UAMS-Identify key team members within the school district necessary for teaming following brain injury and learn tool(s) to foster student focused collaboration-Identify and prioritize model(s) for a team approach following brain injury
Participants will need a laptop with a camera and microphone with internet connectivity. Zoom link and resources will be sent to participants before the meeting starts.
Training is from 9-noon on July 7 and 8. Participants
