2021-DESE: Counter Terrorism - An Educator's Role

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) in Arkansas is responsible for investigating International (IT) and Domestic Terrorism (DT) and cases involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Presentation will define each threat issue and provide domain awareness as it relates to these threats in the State of Arkansas.  The FBI has conducted studies that indicate in nearly every instance of an attack committed by either a domestic violent extremist or a radicalized extremist, at least one person in the subjects life was aware and could have prevented the attack. The presentation will discuss what indicators that domestic extremists or radicalized individuals may display, helping educators identify the behavior and provide law enforcement with the information before a tragedy occurs. The presentation will discuss extremism in Arkansas – providing real and local examples.
