2021-DESE: Child Abuse Hotline - Beyond the Call

As mandated reporters, educators receive quite a bit of training on when and how to report.  What isn’t so widely known is what happens once a report is made.  In this session, you will hear from Dan Mack, Hotline Administrator for the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline (844) SAVEACHILD.  Mr. Mack, along with his staff and a team of operators, process the calls and determine how a report is handled.   Reports may be forwarded for investigation, filed until there is additional information, or rejected because it does not meet the guidelines.  The first 30 minutes of this session Mr. Mack will share information about the process, and the last half of our time will be devoted to Q&A.  You may submit questions ahead of time HERE to ensure they are answered, as well as during the live session.  The act of making a report can be stressful, hopefully this session will shed some light on what happens beyond the call.

Important Session Information:

This session will be recorded and posted along with the Q&A document on the Safe Schools webpage after June 1.  Professional learning credit will only be available for those who attend the live session.
