This course is designed to:
Part 1: Introduce the learner to the Universal Design for Learning Framework utilizing tools from CAST.org as well as other resources created by the course content designers, and outside resources including insight from Dr. Katie Novak, author of many Universal Design for Learning books including “UDL in the Cloud,” “Unlearning: Changing Your Beliefs and Your Classroom with UDL,” and “UDL Now! A Teacher’s Guide to Applying Universal Design for Learning in Today’s Classroom” and Dr. John Spencer, author of many educational books, including “Vintage Innovation: Leveraging Retro Tools and Classic Ideas to Design Deeper Learning Experiences” and “Empower.”
Part 2: This introduction to Universal Design for Learning will be further explored) to help educators identify strategies and practices they are already doing, determine more ways that they can easily incorporate strategies that can further eliminate barriers for learning with all students, and identify how using technology and sound instructional practices can drive toward a full UDL experience for all learners resulting in a learning experience that leads to both lead learners and student learners becoming fully involved expert learners.
Part 3: Educators will have the opportunity to take a lesson and identify how they can take it through the UDL framework, applying strategies and approaches that they can then reflect and implement in their own classrooms and content.
