This three-day training will address skills and concepts needed to handle small-scale crisis events as well as mass casualty events that occur within the school community. Such events could include natural or environmental disasters, fire or facility damage, transportation or on-site accidents, active attach or hostage events, sudden loss of life, and other critical incidents that affect the educational community. Completion of the training will help districts understand how to best fill the roles and responsibilities needed in the event of a school crisis, as well as forming a multidisciplinary team that engages in crisis prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery. Presenters: Kellie Portman and Roger Roberts.
Districts are encouraged to send a local team of up to 3 to support local implementation. Any school staff is eligible to attend with administrator approval. ADE/DESE staff and stakeholders are eligible to attend with School Safety Coordinators approval.
DESE is covering the cost for each district for up to 3 attendees.
