2024-DESE-Youth Mental Health First Aid- Virtual



This session will be held via zoom. Zoom information will be emailed to participants upon completion of prework.

This course from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing will cover how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.

Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges. How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis. How to connect the youth with help. Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying. This virtual training consists of two parts: Prework: Participants will receive emails from MHFA Connect with instructions, links and reminders to complete pre-work tasks in the MHFA Connect system. If the pre-work is not completed, attendance is not allowed in the Instructor Led Session. Instructor Led Session: This is the live virtual portion of the course. It is interactive and participants will need to have both audio and video capabilities to participate. Paid for and sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Education ARKANSAS AWARE. Zoom information will be emailed to participants upon completion of prework.
