"The Adverse Childhood Experiences’ study helps us to understand how early trauma impacts the brains and bodies of children, cascading into learning and social/emotional skills building. We will review the study, how it impacts classrooms, and how to begin to respond. This course is a full contact sport. Be ready for self-discovery, introspection, reflectiveness, and stretching outside of your comfort zone. Our goal is empowered teaching.
(3 hours of PD)
1.Relate to the study of adverse childhood experiences through personal reflection and an assessment of those in attendance.
2.Compare and contrast how a trauma-informed outlook, or a traditional outlook, will lead to student achievement.
3.Develop workable strategies to embed in everyday teaching practices that will make space for “flipped lid” responses from students."
