SCSC - Learning Blade

To support Arkansas' leading efforts in Computer Science Education and Career and Technical Education, The Department of Education and the Department of Career Education along with the Governor announced the expansion of Learning Blade for schools in Arkansas. The Arkansas Public School Resource Center will lead this effort. Learning Blade introduces STEM career opportunities in computer science and other STEM fields to students in a novel format that demonstrates the benefits and roles of STEM careers in society. It also demonstrates the relevance of academic skills to STEM careers and provides real-world examples of the use of Arkansas academic standards in practical situations. Learning Blade is designed for middle school grades 6-8, but has also been used successfully in 5th and 9th grades. This is a free program available to all schools. Come learn how to institute it in your school. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1D, 3C, 3D

Important Session Information:

Please bring your own computing device. For member districts of the SCSC Consortiums the fee has been waived. All other participants will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
