SCSC-Empowering Writing: Editing & Revising & More
Empowering Writers will provide the “how” for delivering direct instruction in revising and editing. Take the mystery out of grammar, mechanics, and spelling by attending this action-packed training. Come away with so much more than just “skill and drill!” This workshop is geared for any teacher responsible for teaching editing and revising with a focus on grades 3 and 4. Participants will: • Understand the parts of speech and how they are truly the building blocks of language! • Learn effective strategies for revising run-on sentences, eliminating redundant ideas, and using transition words and phrases! • Explore hands-on-activities designed to make learning grammar fun! • Simplify spelling to guarantee student SUCCESS! • Learn how to plan and pace instruction across the school year. Teacher Manual - Editing, Revising, & More (Grades 3 & 4) however all grades are welcome to attend. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1A,,1E, 3B, & 3C.
Important Session Information:
For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants will pay the listed fee including Nurses and Paraprofessionals. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
