SCSC-Phonics-Grades K-1-(ICLF)



Designed specifically for K-1 educators, this module focuses on instructional approaches aimed at exploring the sound, pattern, and meaning relationships among words in order to develop children's phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, and vocabulary. Students are guided towards making discoveries about how words work and generalizing their understandings in order to read, spell, and write more efficiently. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1A, 3A, and 3C.

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.The professional text Word Journeys by Kathy Ganske will be provided to those who register before July 3, 2017. Those who register after this date will be responsible for providing their own text.
