SCSC - Mathematical Mindsets - On-line Book Study
Participants will have the opportunity to join an online study of the text, "Mathematical Mindsets", written by Dr. Jo Boaler. Dr. Boaler is a professer of mathematics education at Stanford University. The author of seven books and numerous research articles, she serves as an advisor to several Silicon Valley companies and is a White House presenter on girls and STEM. She is a regular contributor to news and radio in the U.S. and England and recently formed youcubed.org to give teachers and parents the resources and ideas they need to inspire and excite students about mathematics. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 2A, 2B, 3A, 4A, 4D, and 4E.
Important Session Information:
For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.During this initial three-hour face-to-face session participants' will review the online book study format that will include five on-line discussion meetings and the completion of an online discussion guide for each section of the text. A copy of the text will be provided to all participants.
