SCSC - So Many Books, So Little Time at SCSC!
This one-day workshop is designed to help teachers who want to offer motivating fiction and informational text choices to their students in the books they read as well as pieces selected for classroom instruction. Fifty (50) new books will be presented as well as ways to use them in the Arkansas Standards implementation, integrating units, motivating reluctant readers, character education, content area instruction and encouraging engaged, recreational readers which pays off at testing time! Twenty-five (25) of the books will be most appropriate for grades 4-8 while another 25 will be most appropriate for grades 9-12. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1D and 3C.
Important Session Information:
For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
