SCSC-Making Sense of Personalized Learning, Competency Based Education, and Blended Learning

This session provides an overview of three approaches to teaching and learning that are making headlines for innovative practices. These three approaches place the student at the center of teaching and learning. Participants will have an opportunity to learn common vocabulary and understanding to apply in their classroom, building, or district. Participants will be able to: Define and differentiate between personalized learning, competency based education and blended learning, describe what each approach may look like at the classroom and school levels, and reflect on how a shift towards each approach could impact a child;s education and your professional role. This session is 3 hours face to face and then you have 3 hours to complete the learning in session or at home. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 4A, and 4E.

Important Session Information:

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
