SCSC-Ensuring Academic Success for English Learners (EASEL)

Are you effectively reaching the English Learners in your content area classroom? Do you know how to identify, develop, and support the academic language specific to your content area that is crucial for English Learners to have equitable access to content area instruction in your classroom? Would you like customizable strategies and lessons to use in your own classroom? Come join your fellow content area teachers as they learn how to seamlessly integrate the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELP Standards) into existing daily instruction to better reach the English Learners who struggle with vocabulary and other barriers to making content comprehensible in your classroom. Participants will leave this training with practical tools to provide linguistic scaffolds in content area classrooms. This training consists of three face-to-face days in the summer with two follow-up days during the school year. The follow-up days may be accessed in either of two formats, face-to-face or virtual meetings. The training will be lead by expert practitioners who are currently applying the tools in their content-area classrooms. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1B, 3A, 4A, and 4D.
