SCSC - Mandated Reporter/ safeTALK
This professional development for mandated reporters and licensed elementary and secondary public school personnel is required per House Bill 1262 and meets the PD requirements as per Act 969's rotation schedule. safeTALK is a half-day alertness training that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Over the course of the training, the safeTALK participants will learn to: *Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts might be present *Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked *Move beyond the common tendency to miss,dismiss, and avoid suicide *Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further help. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1B, 4C and 4F.
Important Session Information:
For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
