SCSC-Google Art and Culture Workshop
Google Art Project is a favorite tools available online. It is a repository of high resolution images and 3D “museum view” virtual art gallery tours. Since its inception in 2011, Google Art Project has grown from its initial collaboration of 17 international museums to more than 151 and is now available in 18 languages. This offers many opportunities for students in rural regions to view and fully explore detailed art from around the globe, thus, allowing them to critique artworks more accurately. As per most Google applications, Google Art and Culture is no different in that it is a multi-faceted program with many benefits to education. In this work shop, we will discover the many possibilities of the application, as well as lesson units that we can utilize in our classroom. Including: Creating and curating a gallery, Comparing master works side by side, Studying and “forging” the master’s work, and Participating in an art talk with a professional curator. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1A, 1D, 1D, 1E, 3C and 3D.
