OUR Empowering Writing: Argumentative Writing for Grades 5-8



This workshop is intended for teachers of students in grade 6 and above, or any teacher responsible for teaching argument writing who has already taken the Expository Writing class. Understand the key characteristics of argument writing as well as a proven, practical, research-based methodology that works in the real world of the classroom! Come away with specific lesson plans and clear objectives that empower you to explore opportunities for analyzing the organizational structure of the argument essay, learn specific strategies for crafting strong introductions with attention-grabbing leads and powerful claims, understand both sides of an issue, the pros and cons, recognize and refute the alternative point of view, create clear, concise supporting reasons and more! Please note: The teacher manual COMPREHENSIVE ARGUMENTATIVE GUIDE for Grades 6-8 is included, but 5th grade teachers are invited to attend. Lunch is provided.
