Teachers around the state are implementing the new Arkansas K-12 Science Standards. We believe that teachers desperately need other teachers as well as follow-up support in order to be successful in this endeavor. The new standards are not like any other standards we have released over the past years. The standards involve a three-dimensional learning approach as well as high rigor and engineering. Just learning to read the standards can be daunting. Participants will work with other science teachers to develop a greater understanding of 3D learning and how science instruction will look in their classrooms as a result of implementing these new standards. This time will also be used to spark discussion through activities and strategies that illustrate the true intention of the Science and Engineering Practices as well as Cross Cutting Concepts that are integral to the research upon which the new standards will be based.
Note: This will be a 2-day event (one during the fall semester and one during the spring semester).
