SE Structured Teaching – 2 day training

Structured Teaching is an evidence-based approach to instructing students with Autism.  This approach will also benefit students with ADHD, OCD, learning impairments, communication disorders, and hearing impairments. Structured Teaching is a system for organizing student environments, developing appropriate activities, and helping students understand what is expected of them.  There are five major components to structured teaching, including physical organization/visual boundaries, schedules, routines, work systems, and task organization. This module will help participants to: (1) organize and plan a classroom to meet the needs of students, (2) set up the physical structure of a classroom, (3) identify and implement numerous visual supports in the classroom, (4) apply the components of structured work systems, and (5) create and implement task organization to promote independence in the classroom.  The participants will leave with useful tools to be utilized in the classroom.
