NWAESC---Tools for Your Tool Box: School Counselor Interventions (2095)



In the first half of the day, school counselors will review truths and misconceptions about mental health issues, along with signs to recognize in students, and counseling interventions to implement. Topics covered will include dealing with difficult transitions, bullying and cyberbullying, anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-injurious behavior. In the second half of the day, teachers will practice practical communication skills from Crucial Conversations® to engage parents/caregivers, students, and co-workers in effective dialogue whenever opposing opinions, strong emotions, and high stakes are involved.
