Arkansas Resources for School Librarians--AM Session
Through a partnership with the Department of the Army and the Rivers Project Office, the ADE is providing each school library a copy of OUR MISSISSIPPI: EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES ABOUT THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER. This curriculum guide is an excellent resource developed using a watershed based approach and is relevant to a social studies, science or Arkansas history curriculum. This session will focus on strategies for using and sharing this curriculum guide as well as other free Arkansas resources for all curriculum areas. Participants are encouraged to bring their own electronic devices. TESS Components: 1a, 3c, 4b, 4c, 4e
Fake News: Helping Your Students Navigate Online Resources--PM Session
Research indicates that our students are overwhelmed by the amount of information coming over the internet and social media, and are unable to determine the difference between "fake news" and legitimate news. Resources and sample lesson plans will be provided that help students at all grade levels find, evaluate, use and share information. Participants are encouraged to bring their own electronic devices. TESS Components: 1b, 2b, 3b, 3d, 4e
